METRO Youth: Making a difference for LGBTQ young people
METRO Youth provides free and confidential services to LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and those questioning their sexuality or gender) young people in South East London.
METRO has been working with LGBTQ young people for 30 years and is well recognised as a leader in the field. The service is accredited under the 'You're Welcome' scheme for making health services young people friendly.
METRO Youth makes a difference to LGBTQ young people live through comprehensive assessments, youth groups, one to one interactions, satellite work, outreach and rigorous quality assurance.
We provide a range of services including:

Through outreach and one to one work, LGBTQ NEET young people's need is identified. Support and referral to relevant services and training and employment opportunities including volunteering is then provided.
Referrals can be made by any professional, or young people can self refer.

I wish this service was around when I was newly diagnosed. I felt my world had fallen apart around me and I didn't know which way to turn for support. You are offering a very valuable service.

During the 6 month programme, I developed a close relationship with my mentor. Knowing that I would have to talk to him honestly about what I did in the previous 2 weeks somehow forced me to be safe every time I had an encounter.

Thank you so much for taking time to listen to me and truly understand how I am feeling. This is the only appointment I've had regarding HIV that didnít feel rushed.
