HIV Prevention Greenwich

Metro is committed to reaching out to communities in Greenwich to try to prevent HIV transmission and to support those most affected by HIV. We work in partnership with NHS Greenwich to provide information and prevention services to the communities most at risk - men who have sex with men and African people - in a variety of ways.

We provide a number of sexual health testing clinics at our Greenwich site and working in partnership with Greenwich Sexual Health.

You can find out more information about the clinics and their opening times here

The African Testing Outreach Mentoring (ATOM) Clinic offers rapid HIV testing for African people. The test is free, confidential and you will get your result in just a few minutes. You can find out more about this service here

Our Pitstop+ Clinic offers a range of testing services for men who have sex with men, including Post-Exposure Prophylaxis - known as PEP for short.

PEP is a one-month course of anti-HIV pills. It may be effective in preventing HIV infection and must be taken within 72 hours of being exposed to the virus.

PEP is available at our Saturday clinic. Our nurses will discuss with you whether PEP is right for you.

Should you require PEP outside of these times, go straight to a hospital A&E department.

Our friendly outreach team visit venues and events to reach out to local gay and bisexual man and other men who have sex with men to provide support around HIV prevention. We have a short questionnaire which helps to identify your needs and make connections and referrals to ensure that you get the support that you want. In some circumstances we may check back in with you to see how you are getting on and whether you want any more support.

You can also complete an online questionnaire by clicking on the link below. Be sure to leave a valid email address so that we can send you your Individual Action Plan with suggestions for support and other useful information. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Outstanding people. Outstanding service. Outstanding counselling. Truly something that has allowed me to turn my life around.

Kwasi - Mentoring

During the 6 month programme, I developed a close relationship with my mentor. Knowing that I would have to talk to him honestly about what I did in the previous 2 weeks somehow forced me to be safe every time I had an encounter.

Joan - First Point

Thank you so much for taking time to listen to me and truly understand how I am feeling. This is the only appointment I've had regarding HIV that didnít feel rushed.
