GMI Sexual Health Counselling Pan London
The GMI Partnership Counselling Service gives men a chance to speak about the issues they face in maintaining safer sex. Counselling takes the form of either our Long-Term service of sixteen 50 minute sessions, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) of eight 50 minute sessions with other forms of counselling being six 50 minute sessions with men meeting Counsellors across a wide variety of locations in London at various times of the day and days of the week.
We believe that our service gives people a space to be vulnerable and explore the issues they face whilst being in a safe and structured environment. A counsellor will challenge assumptions and beliefs that you have about the way you behave and allows layers of experiences to be peeled away to look at what lies beneath a current behaviour. Although targeted and focused in nature, GMI Partnership Counselling does allow these "other" issues to be explored.
Due to some Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) withdrawing funding from the Pan London HIV Prevention Programme (PLHPP), we regret being unable to provide counselling to men from the following boroughs:
Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Barnet, Newham, Bexley, Redbridge,
Bromley, Tower Hamlets, Enfield and Waltham Forest.
We also offer a peer support programme offers where you can explore different areas of your life which may be influencing your sexual behaviour. You will be able to talk to another gay or bi-sexual man, one to one, and work through a series of modules which look at the various issues (such as self esteem, relationships, substance use, identity) which may be affecting your ability to play safe and remain HIV negative.
The programme is enjoyable, informal, confidential, and free and offers the opportunity to explore your behaviours and raise self awareness in order to set goals and create strategies so as to help bring your behaviour in line with your desire to practise safer sex.
If you would like more information or to arrange an assessment contact Sona or call her on 020 7160 0941.

I wish this service was around when I was newly diagnosed. I felt my world had fallen apart around me and I didn't know which way to turn for support. You are offering a very valuable service.

During the 6 month programme, I developed a close relationship with my mentor. Knowing that I would have to talk to him honestly about what I did in the previous 2 weeks somehow forced me to be safe every time I had an encounter.
Joe - Mentoring
The programme had such an impact on my life that I decided to come on board as a volunteer mentor!

By discussing things at such an intimate level with my mentor, I really came face to face with some of the reasons why I was taking chances before.
