The first three months of 2009 have seen the Metro Centre
be commisioned by a number of funders and sources to provide
new services. These services are to be provided both by the
Centre itself and in partnership.
Comic
Relief has commissioned the Centre to provide a
LGBT youth Alcohol Counselling and Capacity Building
Project over 3 years. Caring with Confidence
(CwC) has commissioned to the GMI Partnership to support
LGB T carers and LGBT people being cared for across London for
the next 3 years. The UK
Department of Health has funded the GMI Partnership
in partnership with the Ugandan
AIDS action fund (UAAF) to run a HIV Late
Diagnosis Project in designated boroughs in london
over the next 9 months, including Lambeth, Islington, Hammersmith
and Fulham and Greenwich. The South
London HIV Partnership (SLHP) has commissioned
the Metro Centre and the GMI Partnership to conduct the Service
Coordination workstream of the SLHP over the next 18
months. The BASIS
Program of the Big Lottery has funded a partnership
comprising Kairos in soho, London Friend, PACE and the Metro
Centre to undertake infrastructure support and development
with London wide LGBT organisations over the next 5
years. Greenwich
NHS has commisioned a partnership comprising the
Metro Centre and the Contraceptive and Sexual Health
(CASH) Service in Woolwich to provide sexual health
clinical services in general practices across Greenwich.

The
Metrosafe Peer Mentoring Program has,
in partnership with AHEAD
and The
Harbour Trust, has recently been awarded three
year's funding from the Kings Fund Partners for Health
in London scheme to develop Africasafe and
Harboursafe, for Heterosexual African men and
women and BME men who have sex with men, respectively. We're
all very excited to see HIV Prevention Peer Mentoring grow in
this way, so watch this space for details. (Click the arrow

Gay
Men's Interactions (GMI) Partnership,
comprising The Metro Centre, Positive East and
West London Gay Men's Project, has been awarded
2 contracts within the Pan-London HIV Prevention Partnership
and will be providing counselling and health trainer
outreach programs to men who have sex with men (MSM) across
London. This is a big boost to The Metro Centre,
as well as to the Metrosafe program, which
will be rolled out across the capital as a result. Click the
