Awareness & Best Practice Courses
These courses
are targetted towards staff from NHS trusts, local government and
social services and focus on the issues facing lesbian, gay and bisexual
(LGB) individuals who are accessing mainstream services. They provide
an opportunity for staff to reflect on their working practices with
this client group.
By the end of
these training courses participants will have:
• Explored their own attitudes towards sexuality;
• Reflect on negative stereotypes, and the effects of discrimination;
• Explored the myths, stereotypes, and realities of LGB people;
• Looked at practical ways of supporting LGB people within mental
health services.
Sexual
Orientation Awareness Training
A half-day workshop to raise the awareness of staff of labels &
stereotypes; levels of homophobia; combating homophobia & challenging
homophobia.
Best Practice
when Working with Individuals on Issues of Sexual Orientation
A one-day workshop exploring sensitive approaches to working with
Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual service users, and those questioning their
sexuality.
